Jeep is all set to bring back the Cherokee nameplate in a bold new avatar, and the latest spy shots confirm just how serious the American SUV maker is this time. What was once a mid-tier crossover is now reborn as a true-blue SUV with an upright stance and rugged appeal—dwarfing designs like the Kia Sorento in road presence and flair.

Rugged Looks With a Premium Edge

Following the official teasers released a few weeks ago, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee has now been seen completely undisguised. Not just the exterior, but even the cockpit has been revealed in full. Compared to the discontinued predecessor, the new Cherokee embraces a boxier silhouette with a more squared-off front fascia. Jeep’s iconic seven-slot grille remains intact but now gets a fresh interpretation.

The headlamps and bumpers have been thoroughly redesigned, while the front fenders, hood, and side profile carry over a stronger, tougher appearance. At the rear, the tailgate is flatter and less angular than before, with split-opening functionality and a new set of taillights reminiscent of recent Hyundai SUVs. Even the rear bumper gets a clean, practical look.

Tech-Forward Cabin With Wagoneer Vibes

Inside, the dashboard design appears to be heavily inspired by the larger Wagoneer S, which also shares the same STLA Large platform. A large infotainment touchscreen takes center stage, flanked by sleek air vents above it and a fully digital instrument cluster embedded neatly into the dash.

The test mule reveals a new steering wheel design, touch-sensitive buttons for the HVAC system, and a revised center console with cupholders and controls that resemble the Wagoneer’s layout. However, there’s no confirmation yet on the presence of a passenger-side display.

Electrified and Future-Ready Platform

The 2026 Jeep Cherokee will be based on Stellantis’ STLA Large (transverse) architecture—a versatile platform that supports internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, and full-electric powertrains. While Jeep hasn’t officially announced powertrain specs, a hybrid version is expected at launch, with an all-electric variant possibly joining later.

The upcoming SUV is also likely to share components with the new Wagoneer S and Jeep Recon (an electric Wrangler alternative), reinforcing Jeep’s shift toward a modular and electrified future.

Launch Timeline and Name Mystery

While the official debut date hasn’t been confirmed yet, the recent sighting of an undisguised model suggests the reveal could happen very soon. There’s speculation that the nameplate might change as a mark of respect to the Cherokee Nation, but nothing has been finalized yet.

The first production units are expected to hit U.S. dealerships as 2026 models, with pricing to be announced at launch.

With its all-new styling, high-tech interior, and hybrid underpinnings, the next-gen Jeep Cherokee looks ready to make a big impact in the global SUV space.
