On October 23, Chinese automaker BYD officially launched its new hybrid sedan the 2026 Qin L DM-i. The car has become a hot topic due to its exceptional fuel efficiency, long electric range, and smart features. Reports suggest that the company may soon introduce it in the Indian market, where buyers prefer both fuel economy and high-tech features.
2026 Qin L DM-i Two Variants Price
Qin L DM-i comes in two variants 128km Progressive and 128km Leading. in China, prices start at 96,800 yuan (approx. ₹11 lakh), while the top model costs 106,800 yuan (approx. ₹12.3 lakh) for a limited period, BYD is offering a 4,000 yuan discount (around ₹45,000), effectively bringing the base price down to about ₹10.5 lakh. if BYD launches it in the same range in India, it could become a strong competitor to Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid, Toyota Hyryder, and Honda City e: HEV.

Car has been designed with families and daily commuters in mind. According to BYD, its pure electric range is 128 km, meaning one full charge can easily handle an entire week of daily office commutes. For long-distance trips, the combined driving range is a staggering 2,148 km enough to travel from Delhi to Kerala on a single tank of fuel!
World’s Lowest Fuel Consumption
Qin L DM-i is being hailed as the world’s most fuel-efficient sedan. BYD claims a fuel consumption of just 2.79 liters per 100 km, equivalent to about 36 km per liter. Existing BYD customers will also benefit from OTA (Over-The-Air) software updates, which will further enhance mileage and performance.

Luxury Look and New Color Options
BYD has introduced a new “Weiyang Grey” color with a subtle bluish glaze and premium finish. The sedan features the brand’s Dynasty Series electronic gear shifter, increased storage, and a luxurious interior lighting system. Visually, it easily rivals premium European sedans.
Advanced Driving Assistance Features
The Qin L DM-i includes Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). Its “Eye of God C-System” supports autonomous highway driving, automatic overtaking, and ramp entry/exit. It also features auto parking, voice alerts, lane change warnings, and smart traffic assist.

Smart Cockpit and Fully Digital Experience
Inside, the sedan runs on BYD’s latest DiLink100 smart system, offering voice control, cloud services, and even smartwatch unlocking. It can be unlocked using Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, or Xiaomi watches. For entertainment, it offers microphone-free karaoke, interactive games, and 3D animated themes, making it a true “moving digital cabin.”
When Will It Launch in India?
Although BYD hasn’t confirmed the Indian launch date, industry experts expect the Qin L DM-i to arrive in early 2026. BYD already sells models like the Atto 3 and Seal EV in India, and stepping into the hybrid segment is seen as its next big move. Price expectations for the Indian market are between ₹18–22 lakh, which could make it a game-changer in the mid-size hybrid car segment.
