BMW WSBK Rivals on the Trail: Last year, Topak Razgatlioglu made the big announcement that he would end his four-year relationship with Yamaha and join BMW in WSBK in 2024. The move surprised many, as BMW has struggled in the top spots since returning to WSBK as a factory in 2019.

BMW has recorded just one win at the top level of Superbike racing since its return, which Michael van der Mark achieved in a rain-affected Superpole contest at Portimao in 2021.
Last season, the German manufacturer failed to make it to the podium even once, although the top three spots were easier to come by than in previous years due to Kawasaki’s drop in performance.
However, Razgatlioglu is optimistic about the BMW M1000R’s prospects and feels it can contend for the championship in its second season.
“We are not far behind. I know the first two tracks are difficult. At Phillip Island and Barcelona you always have to manage the rear tyre. It’s a bit difficult, but we will do our best. Things should get better in the next races. I want to fight for victory at my favourite track,” the Turkish rider told Motorsport.com Germany.
“I aim to secure the championship for these individuals. It may not happen in 2024, but it will happen in 2025. I have faith in the motorcycle and I observe the dedication everyone is putting in. It drives me further,” he remarked.
