If you are looking for a budget-friendly but stylish commuter motorcycle, Honda has introduced an appealing new option. The company has opened bookings for the all-new Honda Shine 100 DX from 1 August 2025, positioning it directly against the Hero Splendor and TVS Sport with a focus on premium features in the entry segment. So what exactly is new here, and why might this be the right motorcycle for you?
Design
Honda has unveiled the Shine 100 DX in an entirely refreshed look. The model now gets a larger fuel tank that gives it a more muscular stance on the road. Chrome touches around the headlight cowl and a chrome heat shield further accentuate the premium feel.
Bold graphics and youth-oriented colour themes such as Pearl Ingenous Black, Imperial Red Metallic, Athletic Blue Metallic and Geny Grey Metallic make the bike stand out among rivals in this price band.
Features
In terms of equipment, the Honda Shine 100 DX becomes the first in its segment to offer a fully-digital LCD instrument cluster. It displays key information including speed, fuel level and gear position in a clean layout.
The motorcycle is built on a steel frame chassis and features telescopic front suspension with 5-step adjustable rear shocks, aimed at delivering a smooth ride across both city roads and semi-rural conditions. The 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres further enhance stability.
Engine
Powering the Shine 100 DX is a 98.98cc air-cooled engine that produces 7.28 bhp and 8.04 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox, a combination well suited for dense city traffic. Honda claims a mileage rating in the range of 70–75 kmpl.
Competition and Pricing
Honda is clearly targeting the long-running favourites Hero Splendor and TVS Sport. The Shine 100 DX is expected to retail between INR 65,000 and INR 70,000 (ex-showroom). Considering the pricing, the added premium elements may well give it an edge over established competitors in this highly sensitive commuter segment.
